Thursday 15th August we hosted the past Captain's Evening Dinner Banquet and Golf.
A fabulous 3 course meal, with wine and port was enjoyed by the Past Captain Gentlemen of Heworth Golf Club. Catering supplied by our Excellent Bar manager Nicky Taylor.
Congratulations to 2023 Captain Brian Lowson winning the Past Captain's Trophy 2024 with a Stableford score of 38pts. Runner up Kevin Dwyer with 37pts. Trophy presented by Past Captain Mick Clitheroe. A fabulous day had by all.

Rabbits Champion and Peter Ferguson Trophy winner.
We hosted the Peter Ferguson Junior Trophy Saturday 11th August and the Rabbits Championship Sunday 12th August in hot summer conditions for both days.
Billy Forder came out on top winning the Rabbits Championship in a closely fought contest with a gross 88. Runner up Ash Martindale 89 and Best Net winner Dean Wharton with a Net 70.
The Peter Ferguson Trophy was won by Fraser Taylor with a Net 70, runner up Shay Muldoon with a net 71.

3 ball Texas Scramble Results 17.08.2024
A fun day was had by all in the 3 man Texas Scramble played Saturday 17th August. Away players were allowed to take part and some great scores were returned. Club Captain Jim Downing hosted a charity raffle where £183 was raised for the National Kidney Federation. Special thanks to Easingwold Golf Club for sponsoring the top prize of a Free 4 ball Voucher won by Heworth Member Enrique Perez. Enjoy your day out to Easingwold GC Enrique.

Captain's Charity Day. This years charity "The National Kidney Federation"
Saturday 8th June we hosted a 4 ball competition raising money for our 2024 Captain's Charity, "The National Kidney Federation". It was a very successful day raising money for a fantastic cause.
Jim Downing our 2024 Captain has another Charity fund raising day planned for Saturday 17th August. This will be a 3 ball texas Scramble, Shotgun start 8am & 12.30pm, guests from other clubs welcome. Further details to follow in due course.

Our Junior membership continues to go from strength to strength and our current junior membership now stands at 23 juniors. U16s is only £50 to join for the year and 17-18 only £90, some of the cheapest membership in the York Union and a great place to learn to play golf in a friendly, encouraging environment.

A 3 way play-off was required to decide the winner of the Summer Trophy played Sunday 23rd June in blisteringly hot summer weather. 3 Pairs returned scores of 40 Stableford points and 2 pairs scored 39pts.

Play - Off Result:
Stuart Dunmore & Paul Hodgson took the Trophy with a fantastic 46 Stableford Points in the play-off played Saturday 10th August. Our other two pairs scoring 39pts. Congratulations Stuart & Paul.
Double Trophy Win for Heworth Golf Club in the York Union of Golf Clubs Crossley & Fletcher Trophies played at Kirkbymooride Golf Club Sunday 7th July.
Congratulations to Jim Batt Jnr winning the Crossley Trophy with a Gross 73 (net 69) including and ace on the 6th hole. It was also a Heworth 1-2 in the Fletcher Trophy with Dean Wharton coming out on top with a net 75. Ian Dodsworth coming 2nd with a net 76. Well played lads, a superb double Trophy win for the golf club.
Ken O'Brien Trophy Result
Sunday 30th June saw 48 players competing for the Ken O'Brien Trophy.
The winning card came from 18 handicapper Adam Guildford with an superb score of 83 gross for a net 65 (4 under par). Congratulations and well played to Adam on the trophy win.
It was another excellent weekend for another one of our talented up and coming junior players in Liam Sidhu. Liam winning the Dave Mills Junior Trophy on Saturday 29th June with a great score of 42 Stableford Points (6 under par) and then following this up on the Sunday with another excellent performance and a 3rd place finish in the Ken O'Brien Trophy. Well played to Liam and to all our prize winners over the weekend.

July Medal Results and a First Hole in One for Peter Brookes
Saturday 7th July saw us host our first Monthly Medal of the season. The best score of the day was 67 Net by Rich Turner and Duncan Bruce in Division One and another Net 67 by Ash Martindale in Division Three.
The day also included a first ever hole in one for 11 handicapper Peter Brookes. A well struck 7 iron on the 8th Hole found it's way into the bottom of the cup watched by several members on the adjacent 3rd green. Congratulations and well done to Peter on his first ace.

Stuart Hare Trophy
The first outing of the Stuart Hare Trophy was played Sunday 1st September with 49 players taking part. Stuart has been a loyal member of Heworth Golf Club since the 1950's but left our shores to spend the rest of his retirement years enjoying pastures new in Australia. Stuart was a well respected, long standing member of the golf club and a trophy was donated by his close friends to remember him. Stuart requested that we host an annual, individual Stableford competition from the Yellow Tees. We all wish you well Stuart and hope you are having a relaxing time in Australia.
Congratulations to Geoff Scott on becoming the first ever winner of the Stuart Hare Trophy with a superb Stableford score of 39 points. Well played Geoff.

Cave Trophy
We hosted the penultimate board competition of the season on Sunday 15th September in The Cave Trophy. 42 players took part in inclement weather morning and afternoon, which made scoring very difficult.
It didn't prove too much of a hindrance to our eventual winner Mark Atkinson who returned a fantastic score of 75 Gross off 12 handicap (42 Stableford points). Mark winning the competition by a massive 6 points. Next best was Michael Down in 2nd place with 36 points, 3rd place Ashley Martindale also with 36 points. Well played and congratulations on the Trophy win Mark.
